Lenders' Consortium is a HUD-approved housing counseling
agency. To qualify with HUD, an agency must have established
nonprofit 501(c)(3) status and must have operated in the
community or the geographic area served for at least one
year while successfully administering a housing counseling
program, as well as demonstrate sufficient funding for sustained
operation.
People
with lower incomes or with nontraditional types of incomes
and job histories have found it difficult to qualify for
mortgages. Many potential homebuyers may not be aware of
today's more flexible lending requirements. TLC’s credit
counseling focuses on pre-purchase training for families
who are ready or near ready for homeownership. Counseling
services are provided free of charge. Each client is provided
an action plan based on their current credit situation and
is welcome to receive counseling services as often as needed.
